This Privacy Policy applies to all of Blindly’s U.S.-based websites, apps, events, and other services that reference or link to it (collectively, the “service”). We currently operate only within the United States (covering all 50 states). If we expand to other jurisdictions, we may update this Policy to comply with local laws and regulations.
3. Data We Collect
We can’t help you find meaningful connections without collecting certain information about you. Below, we outline what we collect and why.
3.1 Information You Provide
3.2 Automatically Collected Data
3.3 Data Collected With Your Permission/Consent
4. How and Why We Use Your Data
Our main goal is to create a safe, meaningful, and enjoyable experience for you. Here’s how and why:
4.1. Account Setup & Verification: We use your data to create and maintain your Blindly account, verify your identity, and keep your profile accurate.
4.2. Service Delivery & Improvement: We use your personal information to recommend matches, suggest potential connections, and improve our algorithm and features.
4.3. Payments & Subscriptions: Payment data is used to process premium subscriptions or in-app purchases. Sensitive payment info is handled by Stripe, Apple, or Google.
4.4. Safety & Verification: We require photo/ID verification to ensure genuine profiles. We store banned-user data to prevent re-registration of accounts that violate our policies.
4.5. Analytics & Research: We analyze usage trends and user behavior to improve our service, develop new features, and enhance security.
4.6. Marketing & Communications: We may send you promotional emails, texts, or push notifications. You can opt out at any time through your account settings or by contacting us.
4.7. Advertising & Targeting: We share hashed user data with ad partners for targeting and retargeting campaigns to show you more relevant ads.
4.8. Legal Compliance & Protection: We may keep or disclose data if we believe it’s necessary to comply with law, protect our rights, or address security/fraud issues.
5. How We Share Data
Some of your information may be available to other members on the Service (e.g. Profile Data) for the purpose of finding matches. We only share your personal information for other purposes when necessary, such as:
5.1. With Other Users: Certain parts of your profile (Profile Data) may be visible to others on Blindly. If someone submits a report involving you (such as a claim you violated our Terms of Use), we may let the reporter know what actions we took, if any, as a result of their report. The same applies if you submit a report involving another member.
5.2. Service Providers: We use reputable third parties for hosting (e.g., Amazon AWS), payment (e.g., Stripe, Apple), analytics, notifications, and more. They only access your data to provide specific services on our behalf.
5.3. Advertising Partners: We share hashed or pseudonymous data with advertisers to place and measure ads. These partners adhere to confidentiality obligations.
5.4. Legal Requirements & Protection: We may disclose data to comply with legal obligations (e.g., subpoenas or court orders), protect our users or our service, or enforce our agreements.
5.5. Business Transfers: If Blindly is involved in a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, your data may be transferred to the acquiring entity.
6. Data Retention & Deletion
We keep your data only as long as necessary for the reasons described in this Policy or as required by law:
6.1. Account & Profile Data: Stored as long as your account remains active. After account deletion, data is retained for up to 90 days before permanent deletion.
6.2. Messages & Match History: Retained while your account is active. If you delete your account, chat logs are kept for 90 days for moderation/safety, then permanently deleted.
6.3. Device Usage & Analytics: Kept for 2 years to support product development and ad targeting.
6.4. Legal & Safety Data: To protect the safety and security of our members, we implement a safety retention window of three months following account closure or one year following an account ban. During this period, we keep your data to investigate unlawful or harmful conducts. The retention of data during this safety retention window is based on our legitimate interest as well as that of potential third-party victims. We maintain limited data to comply with legal data retention obligations: in particular, we keep transaction data for 10 years to comply with tax and accounting legal requirements, credit card information for the duration the user may challenge the transaction, and “traffic data” / logs for one year to comply with legal data retention obligations. We also keep records of consents members give us for five years to comply and evidence our compliance with applicable law.
6.5. Grace Period: There is a 90-day grace period following account deletion in case you change your mind. After that, deletion is permanent.
7. Your Rights & Choices
Depending on applicable U.S. privacy laws, you may have certain rights regarding your personal information:
7.1. Access & Correction: You can request to access or correct your data by emailing info@blindly.app.
7.2. Deletion: You can request deletion of your data, subject to legal and security exceptions. Once your account is deleted, we will remove your data according to our retention timelines.
7.3. Opt-Out of Marketing & Location: You can opt out of marketing emails and texts by following the unsubscribe link or contacting us. You can also disable location access in your device settings.
7.4. No EU/UK Users: As of now, Blindly is only offered in the U.S. If we expand internationally, we will update this policy to address additional legal requirements.
7.5. Consent Withdrawl: Right to withdraw a consent you’ve given us to process your personal data for a specific purpose.
8. Children’s Privacy:
Blindly is strictly for individuals 18 years or older. We use ID verification to prevent minors from creating accounts. If you suspect someone under 18 is on our service, please email info@blindly.app so we can investigate.
9. Policy Changes:
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time as our service evolves or as laws change. If we make significant changes, we’ll notify you via email or in-app before the changes take effect. The latest version of this Privacy Policy will always govern our use of your data.
